Here at Total Care we are driven by technology and we let technology lead the way. We are a data driven organisation whose systems and processes are all being streamlined cloud based using various tools to achieve high efficiency and high performance within the supported living space with local authorities.

What we provide
Four things every placement includes

A home, not a unit
Properties in ordinary residential streets, close to shops, transport, colleges and work. Furnished, maintained and kept to a standard we would accept ourselves.

Consistent support
Support workers who know the young person, with hours matched to their assessed need rather than a fixed template.

Independence skills
Practical work on budgeting, cooking, health, education, employment and navigating services — the things that decide whether a move-on succeeds.

Clear reporting
Local authorities get timely, accurate updates on their young people. Our systems exist so that placement teams are never chasing us for information.
Overall aims and objectives
Who we support
Young people are placed with Total Care living provision when they are at the stage where it is assessed that they need to develop independence skills and become increasingly self-reliant. Other reasons a young adult maybe placed with Total Care are:

Family and placement breakdown
This includes birth and stepfamilies, foster placements and other residential placements.

Behaviour or emotional difficulties
Young people with particular behaviour and/or emotional difficulties that either make it very difficult, or they choose not to live within a family setting at this time.

Experience of homelessness
Young people who have experienced homelessness and are deemed in need of support.
- 04
Unaccompanied with refugee status
Young people with refugee status who have come into the country unaccompanied and need a support system in place to become familiar with a new life in a new country.

Our approach
Helping young people achieve their full potential
Wherever possible, we aim to help and support young people to develop independent skills to enable them to move on into their own place of residence.
We provide a positive nurturing caring environment which lets the young people in our care change the way they feel about themselves as well as provide a supportive team with an ethos to promote a non-judgemental and caring home.
We aim to help young people achieve their full potential in relation to all aspects and dimensions of their lives.
We provide a structured, stimulating, caring and safe environment that is free from any prejudices and which offers young people the opportunity to be listened to and express their wishes, needs and feelings.
Support
A non-judgemental and caring home
We have a qualified Clinical Psychologist who when necessary can provide hourly sessions with the young people to help them manage and process developmental and past trauma using evidence based psychological therapies such as Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and who takes part in the clinical supervision of staff.

Our homes
Why we don’t publish addresses
Our properties are homes for young people, several of whom are placed with us precisely because they need somewhere settled and private. We describe each one by area and facilities rather than by address.

Wembley
A large property in a quiet, settled area with on-street parking. Around ten minutes’ walk from an underground station and fifteen minutes from a mainline station, so getting to college or work is straightforward.
Refurbished two years ago with improvements to amenities and facilities throughout. The main building has five bedrooms, a TV lounge and a separate main lounge, plus a spacious garden.

Harlesden
An eight-bedroom house with twenty-four hour staffing, in a good neighbourhood with parking on site. The nearest station is a four-minute walk.
The property is in good condition with amenities and facilities nearby.

Kilburn
A purpose-built flat in a good neighbourhood with parking. Three minutes from a high road with shops and buses, and nine minutes from a tube station.
In good condition with amenities and facilities nearby.

Queen’s Park
A flat in a developing area with on-street parking. Five minutes from the nearest bus stop and eight minutes from two train stations, one of which runs into central London.
In good condition with excellent amenities and facilities nearby.
Standards
What every property has in common
Each home is furnished and maintained to a standard we would be willing to live in ourselves. Repairs are handled promptly, and properties are inspected as part of our ongoing quality checks rather than only when something goes wrong.
Locations are chosen deliberately: close to transport, shops, colleges and employment, and in residential areas where a young person is a neighbour rather than a resident of an institution.

Safer recruitment
Every post is subject to an enhanced DBS check with the children’s barred list, full employment history with gaps explained, and references verified before you start.

Shift work
Supported accommodation runs around the clock. Most roles include evenings, weekends, sleep-ins or waking nights, and we are straight about that at interview.

Training and development
Induction, safeguarding, and ongoing training. We support staff working towards relevant qualifications rather than treating them as already finished.
